Finally, A Little Common Sense

Freedom Tower Will Be Called One World Trade Center

New YORK — The Freedom Tower is out. One World Trade Center is in.

The agency that owns ground zero confirmed Thursday that the signature skyscraper replacing the towers destroyed on Sept. 11 will be more commonly known as One World Trade Center.

The building under construction at the site was named the Freedom Tower in the first ground zero master plan. Officials at the time said the tallest, most symbolic of five planned towers at the site would demonstrate the country's triumph over terrorism.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey chairman Anthony Coscia says the agency refers to the building as One World Trade Center. He says it's the building's legal name and "the one that's easiest for people to identify with."

This has been a bug up my butt for awhile. I have thought this whole "Freedom Tower" idea was nonsense. The terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center Tower, we need to put it back up.

I have thought all along that replacing the building and calling it the World Trade Center Tower sent a loud and clear message to these murderous bastards; Kiss Our Ass. You can knock us back a step but we will never stay down.

The Freedom Tower name was purely political

Oh I agree Chuck! When all the talks were going on about this and the thought of making it a memorial site instead of a functioning trade center building I had this thought:

We should not be making this location a huge memorial, we need to rebuild the trade tower. Otherwise, we are putting a lot of money into a trophy for the terrorists.

I agree totally, it needs to be rebuilt as the trade center, called the trade center and used as such. Yes! You can try to knock us down, but we will ALWAYS get back up and fight.

Whatever the name ended up being, it should not have taken this long to finish in the first place.

American Girl, agreed

Leslie, I don't think it should be a memorial either. I have always thought the best memoriumn for the victims and a little sand in the eye for the terrorists is to have rebuilt it quickly and resumed our lives there.

Flavor, your dead on right. This is what happens when we let politicians and bearucrats control things.

Right Chuck and Flavor, it definately should NOT have taken this long. It should have been done right away. Spit in the eye and all that.

How about we call it Obama Tower in honor of the first African-American president?

Well, as you know, I think differently about it, and wrote that on my site today (great minds!) but I do see your point....

Except, if you're going to name it ONE WORLD TRADE, or whatever the address/name is, do it from the first....don't take Freedom Tower's moniker away, as if we're crawling into an even bigger hole of fear than Obama's exhibited with his ridiculous stuff.

LA Sunsett....OBAMA TOWER....a tower with a swagger..interesting! not

Alright Z, you drive a hard bargain.

Obama World Tower and that's my final offer.

Obama Tower, somehow I don't think the terrorists will be cringing in fear

Yeah, what 'Z' said! Seriously, if fear and capitulation is the reason for the name change (and I think that it is), then it certainly is the wrong reason.

I said this over at Z's, she posted on the same thing, I stand by what I say. Now if they are doing this as an appeasement or ina misguided attempt to keep us from getting attacked, I do have an issue with that

I think they should have built it taller and put a giant cross on top of it. That sends a message to the Islamic savages that hate the west and also to all the America-hating lefties who also hate Christianity. Two sets of scumbags with one gesture.
