This was just too much to pass up on.
“A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom,”
Dan Rather
Yes, this is the same Dan Rather that used forged Air National Guard memos in an attempt to damage George Bush in the 2004 Presidential election and then refused to admit it when it became obvious they were forgeries.
I really have nothing left to say. This was a bloggers dream, the blog wrote itself.

What's the frequency, Kenneth? Finally, Dan Rather is making as much sense as Walter Conkright. That's "Conkright" in the 6 feet under version.
Good one!
I love irony.
Irony, indeed.
ptui, Dan Rather, you freaking hypocrite.
Dan Rather must be insane. He really doesn't know his reputation is that of a whore?
DaBlade, heh heh
AOW and Z, I love irony. A lot of people don't fully appreciate it.
Fairest, whore - reporter? What's the differance?
I never understood why CBS didn't fire Dan Rather on Sept. 11 1987 for storming off the set when the US Open Men's Tennis Finals ran long and delayed the start of the CBS News broadcast. The network was dark for 6 minutes because of his temper tantrum.
That was the start of the end of his professional career because his reputation was mud after that. His ratings declined from then on. And CBS not taking action against him only emboldened his ego-driven reporting against conservatives.
The man is directly responsible for much of what's wrong with journalism. He's a disgrace.
“A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom,”
He should change that to, “A truly free and independent press under conservative government is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom, if it's leftists, socialists or commies in charge, let the ass-polishing begin.”
Fairest, interesting, I didn't remember that
MK, "ass-polishing" LMAO
Funny Chuck, as soon as I saw 'Dan Rather'...my first thought was that story...we should add, "A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom; 'keeping the liberal agenda alive and well."
An incredibly egotistical quote.
Freedom of the press is more important when you are out of power. When you're in power it seems less pressing. Dan is very much of the free speech for me but not for thee
Leslie and Shoprat, thanks
