This is A Little Frightening

This is a good article on the Democratic smear machine attacking critics of Obama as mob rule. The talking points on the left are that people protesting Obamacare do not represent common Americans, they are just far right plants out to destroy Obama.

The article is a good read and is an incredible example of the depths of the lack of ideas from the left.

The real interesting part though is at the bottom:

Indeed, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, suggested it's the White House that is attempting to intimidate opponents.

On Tuesday, the White House issued a blog post by Macon Phillips, director of new media, asking supporters to send "fishy" information received through rumors, chain e-mails and casual conversation to a White House e-mail address, flag@whitehouse.gov.

Cornyn responded by accusing the White House of compiling an "enemies list." In a letter to the president, Cornyn urged Obama to provide Congress with more details on what the White House plans to do with anyone reported for "fishy" speech.

"I am not aware of any precedent for a president asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed 'fishy' or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests," Cornyn wrote.

"You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights," he wrote.

This is chilling and, I suspect, just the beginning. I think Obama is one who has no intention of failing. During the campaign he showed he was willing to throw anyone under the bus that was not a help to him. We, as ordinary citizens certainly cannot hope for better treatment.

Just be careful what you say here, you could wind up on a WH file.

There is no precedence at this level. Obama wants to be a dictator and we must stop him.

I think we should send emails about left-wing bloggers and report them as "fishy". We could sign up for left-wing email distributions and send them to the white house also..

I am glad you posted this. Sean Hannity talked about it today, but being in the car with a four year old chatter box, I missed most of it. Just caught the gist. Was going to go see what the The Heritage Foundation had to say about it.

Shoprat, next year

Randy, good point. Wonder if they will look into them?

Gramma, it's scary

Chuck, got any friends you'll be turning in for saying something "fishy" about the White House?
This is unprecedented..NEVER have we had Stasi in the WH. Until now.
It is VERY scary. And the left laughs it off as if the Right's just silly.

Reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode where you had better think only happy thoughts, as defined by the boy monster or you would end up in the corn field.

President Obama may want to become a dictator, but he will fail. The power our government, even the President, wields is derived from the citizens. We're about to call Obama-Pelosi-Reid-DNC'c loan.

No way will Obama win this one. Obama, Pelosi & Reid don't have enough powers of persuasion or intimidation to prevail over those of us whose power they're using.

They're finished. This is it! There are too many of us and we still possess our freedom. Obama and company are trying to take it from us. But we will not allow them to.

Keep this in mind: Anything done under Obama can be undone after 2010 & 2012 and undo it WE WILL!

Sheesh...and I thought it was Bush with the Patriot Act and wiretaps that was supposedly taking away our civil liberties and bringing us closer to 1984...

Probably to late. Oh well, I'm sure I am on Janet Napolitano's list too.

Hussein is revealing himself to the fascist we always thought he was.

MK, there was sufficient information about Obama to deduce his socialism during the campaign. What he didn't have was much of a record with all those "present" votes. His well-run campaign bamboozled enough voters in the absence of a clear record. Voters now see for themselves what many of us were warning and won't repeat their mistake again. Look for reversals in the 2010 elections. I believe we'll take back the House.

We'd all better learn morse code so that we can tap our blog entries when we end up in the gulags ;-)

I sure hope so FairestWitness.

Once in the White House database, one's name could be there for quite a long time.

Clearly, the White House is attempting to intimidate dissenters and --Gasp! -- community organizers (of sorts).

If you haven't stopped by Gateway Pundit to see some of the videos, do so soon. Gateway has some excellent material about the ongoing intimidation.

Never before have I seen such a disconnect between WE THE PEOPLE and our elected representatives, the latter of which want us to roll over like sheeple.

Just like sending a tea bag on April 15th, maybe we should send some dead fish with a note that reads, "something fishy".

Glad you're back and I hope you had a great time!

M.A. has a point, but sending fish via the mail is too problematic. Maybe if we all send some Swedish Fish candies.

Remember when Hillary Clinton famously screeched, "WE ARE AMERICANS AND WE HAVE A RIGHT TO DEBATE AND DISAGREE WITH ANY ADMINISTRATION!"? How times change...

Z, I had an "interesting" time. Thanks

Cube, swedish is too tasty, maybe anchovies?

PCC, incredible that protesting is unpatriotic now huh?
