Army Investigates Alleged Attempt by Soldiers to Poison Food at Fort Jackson
The U.S. Army is investigating allegations that soldiers were attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.
The ongoing probe began two months ago, Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, told Fox News.
The Army is taking the allegations “extremely seriously,” Grey said, but so far, "there is no credible information to support the allegations."
Five suspects, detained in December, were part of an Arabic translation program called "09 Lima" and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim. It wasn't clear whether they were still being held.
Grey would not confirm or deny the sources’ information.
Now let's be real clear up front that investigators are not finding credible evidence to support the allegations. I therefore don't really want to discuss the plot itself, there may not be one. Further it is hard to complain about not being told about it until now (my first beef until I looked at it closer) because it would be a disservice to the men to smear them and ruin their name if there was nothing to it.
There is another issue here in my opinion, trust. That is trust of the Obama administration. They have been less than truthful with us to date on terrorism.
Look no further than the Fort Hood shooting. The first public statement by the Obama Justice Department was to assure everyone it was not a terrorist attack. It was a terrorist attack and I think they knew it at the time. Their announcement was nothing more than cover for Obama to keep him from having a terrorist attack on US soil. To date they are still not classifying it as terrorism, it's just a Muslim man that hates America associating with an extremist Imam that hates America and then going out and killing Americans. In other words, not terrorism.
They refuse to call the Little Rock recruiting center shooting terrorism. The Justice Department has brought terrorism charges but Obama refuses to use the phrase itself.
More than that is the sloppiness in which they approach terrorism investigations. Fort Hood was an incredibly ridiculous investigation before and after the shooting. The panty bomber investigation was a mess before and after the incident.
So, the simple question is: do we trust him on this?
Do you feel safe?
