Quote Of The Week

"We're not going to save our way out of this recession,"..."We've got to spend our way out of this recession, and I think most economists know that."

James Clyburn (D-S.C.), Majority Whip

There you have it. Do notice though he did not share the voluminous list of economists who agree with him.

Clyburn hasn’t seen the football since kickoff. This short statement is overflowing with outright lies and distortions, the first being that spending in the face of massive deficits is a rational course of action. Let us consider that wealth isn’t what you make, it is what you keep (save) of what you make. If we apply this idea to the government’s fraud against the American people, what makes our country ‘wealthy’ is an expectation of the extortion of some amount of tax revenues. Should the American people ever rise up and declare they positively refuse to pay these high taxes, the government is suddenly bankrupt. I wish the tea party organizations would begin working on this …

The second great lie Clyburn told was, “I think.” This man in incapable of thinking beyond the context of racial politics.

The third great lie is “most economists know that.” Does he mean economists with practical experience in the business world, or does he mean those eggheads who teach economic theory in college but have never actually worked in the field of finance?

Wow. Only a complete and utter moron or a Democrat (but I repeat myself) would say that you get yourself out of debt by spending MORE money.

I don't think he made it out of the locker room

Karen, these people cut spending by not raising it as much. It's that new Congressional math all of the kids are doing.

Idiot. Can he be muzzled?

It is utter insanity!

I think I'll just spend until my checkbook magically balances itself!

Chuck said...

PCC, no, just unemployed

Brooke, actually this is a page out of my financial theory - there's more checks, we don't need money

The bastards know, the more of your money their piss down the toilet, the more dependent you become on them.

In a just world a lot of them would be out on the streets working for their crust.

i-Bama did not invite the Republicans to a summit. He 'used' Katie Couric to issue his 'invitation', so all the uninformed people who only watch the DownStream talking heads would see his 'invitation' and then be able to see the evil Republicans reject his ideas.

Tom, agreed and thanks for stopping by
