How Bad Is Obama Trying To Hold Onto Congress

Mitt Romney made an interesting suggestion on Sean Hannity's show. He wondered if losing Congress this year would be all that bad for Obama.

His suggestion is that the country is going to be a real mess over the next couple of years and he can attempt to cast the blame on a Republican Congress when he runs for re-election in 2012.

It is an interesting thought. I believe Obama really is narcissistic enough to be willing to sacrifice the jobs of Congressional Democrats if it saves himself. There are times it appear he is willing to sacrifice the country to pass issues he think will give him a legacy, how is it a leap to think he would not throw Congressional Dems under the bus?

What do you think? Is there a self-serving interest between Obama's request that Dems vote for health care even if it costs them their jobs?

It could backfire. If the GOP sweeps back into power and attempts to enact sweeping reforms to dig the nation out the mess the current Dem leadership has put us in, Obama could be seen as the obstructionist. Much will depend on how bold the GOP acts, once they regain a foothold on power.

I say all of this based on the supposition that the GOP does win back the Congress.

You’ve asked an excellent question, Chuck. Do we dare assume that the GOP is smart enough to recognize Chicago politics? Notice, I didn’t wonder if Americans are smart enough to recognize Chicago politics … we already know the answer to that. Personally, my quandary is that I have little confidence in either the GOP or the American voter. It’s a trust thing, you see.

Oooo... Considering the attention span of most, and the complicity of the MSM, Romney might be correct!

I heard this suggestion a couple of weeks ago (I don't remember who suggested it. Maybe Dick Morris) and I've been thinking about it since then. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Obama is willing to (maybe even wants to) throw the Democrats in congress under the bus in order to secure a second term.

The only flaw in this logic is that I think Obama is much more of an Idealist than Clinton ever was. I think Obama wants to pass the progressive agenda. I think Clinton just wanted the power and the perks that come with the power.

I should have mentioned in my post that what I heard was a comparison between the Clinton presidency and how losing Congress helped him win a second term and how it might affect Obama positively.

Interesting thought. I missed the interview yesterday.
Throwing someone under the bus to further his political career is nothing new at all. Remember he even threw his grandmother under the bus.

Clinton triangulated his stance closer to the middle when he lost the Congress.

Obama is determined to get his will done because he knows what's best for us. Narcissist that he is, losing the Congress won't change his views one bit. He'll double down on stupid.

Chuck, all communists believe the ends justify the means.

Obama will do anything to advance communism and himself. I worry about a fake national emergency requiring martial law.

LA, and the supposition that some of them come with ideas.

Mustang, agreed - see above comment to the good Mr LA

Brooke, he may be setting himself up too

TC, good points although I'm of the thought that Obama wants the power

Gramma, he's not shy about it

Cube, I think losing Congress virtually guarantees him losing in 2012. He cannot compromise

LomaAlta, he already controls most of the media

What do you mean 'times', from what i can see the only way obama will get his wretched legacy, is if the whole country sacrifices and does so for a long, long time.

And it wouldn't surprise me in the least of most democrats are happy to sacrifice themselves to ruin the country.

MK, I think a good sacrifice of the Democrats would be good

Obama, being a narcissist, will do what ever it takes to project the blame away from himself be it Dems or Republicans. Rumors are flying in DC that Emanuel may be the next to go under the bus. However the spin doctors in the administration are saying that Emanuel always intended to leave in two years or less and possibly run for mayor of Chicago. I ain't buying it. Fire up the bus and throw it in reverse then forward. That's the Obama way.

BO is willing to lose the Congress in 2010 as long as he can change the country into the
sick, twisted vision that lives in his head. Once this bill is passed, there will be no way of undoing the damage.

I think, since most narcissistic people are also not firmly footed in reality, and pretty dysfunctional, it will blow up in Obozo's face.

Let's not forget the he needed the services of the far left nut brigade to help him during his election. He is making them quite mad right now too. He has directly insulted the American people too.

Alas, like Mustang, I don't have a lot of confidence in the GOP or the American voter. But this guy seems oblivious to how angry he makes citizens.

Ticker, problem is if he starts firing people, he's going to run out of people to blame

Cube, agreed. Once he gets it passed, he won't need them anymore

HAM, I suspect he's going to find out
