"It is a vital national security interest of the United States to reduce these conflicts because whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them," Obama said. "And that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure."

Barrack Obama

Whether we like it or not?

I'm sick to death of this embarrassment for the US' superiority.

We developed this strength through the blood, sweat, and tears of a lot of good men and women and we have Obama running around the world apologizing for it.

I am more embarrassed by our president than our military superiority.

And .......most of it was not developed intentionally. It was done as a response to fascist and totalitarian expansion that threatened our freedom and sovereignty, and that of the rest of the world.

It's not like we woke up one day and said, "today would be a great day to become superior to everyone else". I bet most people were content to go about their lives and struggle to feed their families without going a world away to get shot at, in a conflict not of our own making.

Shoprat, agreed

LA, very well put. I do want to be clear about this, I am not advocating for a "New World Order" in which we dominate the world but we are the world's super power and I don't think it is something to be embarrassed about.

You mentioned the rest of the world. We not only protect ourselves with this power but a good measure of the rest of the world also.

If only his actions displayed that he really did believe, that when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them.

Because under his presidency, the world has gotten more unstable, more dangerous and a whole lot less safe for those who cherish freedom and peace.

Every now and again the actual truth slips out of Obama's mouth.

Like AOW, I am sick of it! Even if this was 'taken out of context' as leftists claim, I don't care. What makes them think that countries like Iran won't take a quote like this and run with it?

MK, maybe this is what he was apologizing for?

Brooke, he has a lot of stuff taken out of context
