Court-Martial of Navy Seal Opens in Iraq

An alleged terrorist accused in the grisly murders of four Americans appeared in court Wednesday in Iraq. But Ahmed Hashim Abed isn’t the one on trial. Instead, he was testifying against one of the Navy Seals who arrested him last September.

Petty Officer First Class Julio Huertas of Blue Island, Illinois, is being tried at a military base on the western outskirts of Baghdad. Huertas and two other Navy Seals face charges in connection with Abed’s arrest, during which the prisoner claims he was punched and kicked by at least one of his captors.

This is what this poor little bastard was wanted for:

The source said intelligence briefings provided to the SEALs stated that "Objective Amber" (Abed) planned the 2004 Fallujah ambush, and "they had been tracking this guy for some time."

The Fallujah atrocity came to symbolize the brutality of the enemy in Iraq and the degree to which a homegrown insurgency was extending its grip over Iraq.

The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

Intelligence sources identified Abed as the ringleader, but he had evaded capture until September.

So basically the Seals smacked this animal around a little bit and they are the ones being punished. Meanwhile, this little meat sack is be put up as a prosecution witness to testify against the people he has sworn to kill.

I don't know what the Hell is happening to our country but it is horseshit.

A travesty of the worst sort. Were I young enough and I'd have caught him, he would have had more to complain of than a few punches and kicks.

I am with GM. I am sure he would have gone for my weapon had I captured him.

I don't know what's happening either, except that we are sadly following in the footsteps of once-Great Britain.

GM, agreed. He needed a good ass-whipping.

LA, or "tripped" down some steps.

Karen, I think you, sadly, are dead right. I love the UK but they are going Muslim and I think we are headed that way.

That these Navy Seals are even being put on trial is a grave miscarriage of justice! Furthermore, it demoralizes our military, no matter how the trial turns out.

So far, so good!

Definitely sending some money their way Chuck, if i can just get the damn paypal to work. Thanks for posting about their plight.

It really beggars belief where the world is headed when a piece of crap is hoisted up and the nations finest are dragged through the courts.

What a twisted sense of justice...Hauling our military up on charges for defending America while extending US constitutional rights to terrorists who have vowed to destroy America.

Chuck said...

AOW, agreed. I have thought about how this effects the troops

DaBlade, one down, two to go

MK, it's stunning. We'll have a damned parade for this brave soul testifying

Phil, we'll wind up giving the Gitmo terrorists the same trial as the Seals. What an F'ed up mess
