The Capitol Of The Free World

It's not unheard of for Vice President Biden to get lost in the moment, but during a speech earlier this month to the European Parliament his flattery of the host may have gone a bit overboard, ceding Washington, D.C.'s role as the world's center of liberty.

The U.S. vice president, opening his address in Belgium, argued that Brussels -- considering its rich history and abundance of international institutions -- could well be the "capital of the free world."

He suggested that Washington, D.C., his home, is undeserving of that title -- notwithstanding its wealth of global organizations and the countless international summits that take place there.

"As you probably know, some American politicians and American journalists refer to Washington, D.C. as the 'capital of the free world,'" Biden said. "But it seems to me that in this great city, which boasts 1,000 years of history and which serves as the capital of Belgium, the home of the European Union, and the headquarters for NATO, this city has its own legitimate claim to that title."

While I do think he is an idiot, I don't think he misspeaks as often as people say. He may not say it as delicately as some would like but I believe he is often saying exactly what is on his mind.

These people are embarrassed by the US and want the rest of the world to take over our responsibility as the model of freedom.

Don't get him wrong, neither he nor zero care for liberty or freedom, yes he is ashamed of and dislikes what America stands for, but he would never want anyone to take over as the beacon of liberty and freedom. What afflicts the left is not just laziness, but deep-rooted hatred of freedom and liberty.

MK, I think this explains placing the "Capitol" in Europe.

Yep.

It's only his bluntness that embarrasses the libtards. And, even then, their embarrassment is minimal.

In my view, Biden was BHO's perfect choice for VP -- and not "a mistake" on BHO's part.

I do not think there is much that could surpass the idiocy of Joe Biden; I think you give him far too much credit for knowing much of anything, much less what he will do or say from one moment to the next. And by the way, I happen to think that God still loves America—otherwise Obama would already be a footnote in presidential history and Biden would be our President with Pelosi as Vice President. Stalk about some scary stuff …

Brooke, I know

AOW, I thought about this after I wrote it. This comes right on the heels of Obama's "New World Order" bit

Mustang, I agree about keeping Obama where he is - it's the devil you know thing.
