Justice Department Seeks Ebonics Experts

AUGUST 23--The Department of Justice is seeking to hire linguists fluent in Ebonics to help monitor, translate, and transcribe the secretly recorded conversations of subjects of narcotics investigations, according to federal records.

A maximum of nine Ebonics experts will work with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Atlanta field division, where the linguists, after obtaining a “DEA Sensitive” security clearance, will help investigators decipher the results of “telephonic monitoring of court ordered nonconsensual intercepts, consensual listening devices, and other media”

I had some high school teachers from the north end of Flint that would have qualified for this job.

Ebonics? Really?!?

WTF do you have to do to get fluent? Learn how to pepper every sentence with the word b*itch and n*igger 400 times?

I'm with Cosby on this one.

Brooke, I find it all kind of funny

Brooke, you also have to throw in the "f" word at least three times per sentence.

Well, the DOJ might actually need Ebonics "experts" for that.

Trouble is, most Ebonics "experts" are crackheads, at least here in the D.C. area.

Gramma, agreed.

AOW, this is kind of where I was going

I could perhaps see that, AOW.

Often, listening to someone speaking such poor English is infuriatingly confusing.

Brooke, sadly I can usually follow it fairly well. My favorite is DFO. You know this from the ER.

RN: What brings you in to see us today?

Ebonics answer: I was sitting at work and I done fell out.

RN: Are you having chest pain, weakness? (there are unfortunately several types of DFO and you have to figure out which type it is)

Lazy english from people who feel that education is part of the whitey establishment.

Cube, a low graduation rate doesn't hurt either
