Something Stinks Here

Election Panel Dismisses Complaint Against SEIU, Clears Way for Union to Amass War Chest

Despite a finding by the Federal Election Commission's general counsel that the Service Employees International Union violated election law when it required local affiliates to contribute to its political action fund, the FEC's full board nonetheless quietly voted to overrule its staff attorney and dismissed the original complaint -- clearing the way for the union to squeeze its locals to amass a $9 million war chest for the next election.

Moreover, the group that filed the complaint, the National Right to Work Foundation (NRWF), didn't receive a full explanation of the FEC's decision in the case until after 111 days had passed, ensuring that its right to file an appeal had lapsed.

See anything familiar here? Does this remind anyone of another federal agency?

the FEC's full board nonetheless quietly voted to overrule its staff attorney and dismissed the original complaint

Worse, the FEC stalled the notification until after the appeal deadline has passed? How the hell could that even be legal?

Am I the only one here starting to think our entire federal government is being run by a bunch of goons? These people would put an old Soviet bloc country to shame.

They are handing down a ruling and then not giving the losing party to the case a right to an appeal.

This is not an American model of justice, it sounds eerily familiar to the justice systems in Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.

Coincidence?

This can't be happening..Worst yet, who's COMPLAINING? Isn't there ANYBODY honest enough in the media to discuss this, or isn't it a sexy enough story?
Also, what happened with the guy who was testifying against the Panthers at that voting precinct the other day? That's going to just 'go away', too?
Chuck, I think Mr. Z was right; It's starting to feel like a Third WOrld Country around here.

Z, the media will simply ignore it

The media is too busy talking about Whitman's illegal nanny. We aren't being served by a press who has totally relinquished any vestige of journalistic integrity.

We are also not being served by a government that has stopped listening to the will of the people.

Yeah, something stinks allright.

Cube, the media has long ago given up journalistic integrity.

You just need the brownshirts herding people to the nearest gulag and it'll be a leftist dream come true.
