And So It Begins...

White House Plans to Push Global Warming Policy, GOP Vows Fight

The first part of the first paragraph says it all.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- After failing to get climate-change legislation through Congress, the Obama administration plans on pushing through its environmental policies through other means, and Republicans are ready to put up a fight.

Get used to this, Obama will now be running ruining the country by dictate. Look no further than what is currently going on in Venezuela to see our future.

This whole bit with Obama pretending to cooperate with the new Republican majority in the House was for the media only. The next two years will be a steady stream of executive orders.

Yep and unelected fools from the EPA making laws along with judicial diktat. It's the backdoor Chicago way.

We knew this would happen if the GOP made big gains. No surprise.

But....the House doesn't have to fund anything he decrees. And we can use the courts to get the constitutionality of the decrees interpreted correctly as long as the SCOTUS stays the same.

It's going to be a long contentious session, but we need to stay every bit as vocal as we were during the last two years. Can't let up now.

Ticker, and they're just getting started

LA, the big one will be funding. The courts will rule against a lot of this but could take years and this is what he is counting on. Litigate until they have a chance to retake the House. You know, when Hell freezes over.

Yep.

Obama is going to rule by fiat.

And America snoozes on.

LA is correct about the funding matter. But will the GOP have the guts to stand up to Obama, particularly when the mainstream media will continually slam the GOP for "slowing things down"? The GOP is very eager to win in 2012 and may not want to take the necessary risks -- the risks for stopping Obama's agenda.

BTW, I wouldn't count on the courts. So many Clinton appointees sitting on the bench.

Yep, and screw the will of the people too.

Is why i always say, scratch a leftist and very soon you'll find a lying, totalitarian fascist underneath.

The sooner the American people are done with their failed liberal experiment, the better. Bring on 2012.

Oh, absolutely, Chuck. Obama and Chavez are cut from the same red cloth...

The fight against Obama rule will be long and hard, but it must be fought. I only hope the GOP has the stomach and the guts to do it.

LA Sunsett is right about staying vocal. The left will try to silence the right by any means possible because the voices of dissent on FOX, talk radio, and the internet interfere with their agenda.

AOW, good point on the funding and you are possibly right about the courts

MK, 2 years

Karen, just part of our rush to be a banana republic

Cube, the GOP needs to stop pissing it pants every time the media attacks them

"the GOP needs to stop pissing it pants every time the media attacks them"

That's because they haven't had any real leadership since the early 60's. Bonehead is a miserable failure and he hasn't even assumed his position of power yet. McConnell, lord that man carries a roll of TP to use every time the media looks at him sideways. They had better get their head out of their rectums or they will have it handed to them on a plate in 2012. All they do is posture and run their mouths to make the folks back home think they are doing something. I am waiting to hear, "Well we tried". Tried my butt! And that ain't gonna cut it with the voters in 2012.

LA, dragging it out in courts is plan B for the Dems. The damage will already be done by the time the courts get around to stopping this mess. The lower courts will diddle and daddle with it back and forth for two years at least then it will take another two years to get the Supremes to hear it and by that time Obama will have already packed the court just as FDR wanted to do.

Chuck: to emphasize a point you made, EVERYONE should look at Venezuela as the example Obama will use. I have discussed this in the past as well. One need only look at that country and they will see the mirror reflection of strategies obama will use (and has used) to get what he wants done in the next two years.

Ticker, good point. I should stop using "pissing their pants" and start using "crying like a girlie-man"

Ticker, another thought I had on this is that once a law is enacted, even if it is ruled unconstitutional, it's hard to undo.

Obama is counting on it surviving, even in a watered down state. The damage will be done. Also, try taking something people already have away from them.

As an example, Obama mandates some health care benefit (say free dental for children). It is ruled as being unconstitutional to enact it the way Obama did. Now imagine the courts over-ruling it and the GOP refusing to vote on a new law giving the benefit back. Obama will not be blamed for running a dictatorship, the GOP will be pilloried for taking dental coverage away from children.

Leslie, correct. Think the "fairness doctrine"
