Keeping The World Safe From - Permanent Markers?

Boy, 13, Busted For Illegal Marker Possession

A 13-year-old boy was arrested Friday for using a permanent marker while in class at his Oklahoma City middle school, a violation of an obscure city ordinance.

I'd like to know what the graduation rate is in this school district. Or how well the students do on standardized test scores. Or maybe, what the functional literacy rate is for it's graduates.

These are all issues that most public school system tend to have a problem with.

Want to know what is generally not a concern for public schools? Kids using permanent markers.

This school must be a utopia if a damn marker is the worst thing they have to worry about!

Ugh!

They must be located in that area that has been overrun by Colorado leftwing nuts. Only a lefty would be so stupid as to dig up some obscure law to make a point. Take that dang marker if you are so afraid the kid is going to draw something on the walls and send his butt home at the end of the day with a note telling the parent(s) that they can pick up the marker and when to arrive to do so. Of course some of the leftwingnut parents would sue the school.
No wonder our schools are in such a screwed up mess.

Oh, and OK city school graduation rates hover around 56.2 percent. Just thought you'd like to know.

Brooke, exactly

Ticker, you would think there wouldn't be as many libs in OK City. As far as the grad rate, I'm from the same state as Detroit (a robust 25% grad rate). For some up here, 56% is only something to dare to dream about. It is a sad state of affairs when a school only graduates 1 out of 4 or 1 out of 2 kids.

Chuck they all moved in from Colorado and most of those were transplants from California before that. That explains the Libs in Okla City.
They moved to escape the taxes, you know, the things that support their socialist spending projects!

Actually the real numbers are lower than that from other sources. Truthful numbers are probably in the low 40% range and that is if you count the football players who are promoted so they can play for OU. hahahahah.

I don't get it... was the kid defacing the desk with the marker? I can't see any other offense here.

Chuck said...

Ticker, sad isn't it?

Cube, I believe it was because he was in possession of a banned instrument.

What next marker control? Marker licensing?

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with the family.

I wonder if the kid had a holster for such a deadly weapon...

Is this the sister school to the one that punished the Christmas sweater club for handing out the "dangerous" 2" candy canes?

Whatever happen to the days when kids were just accused of sniffing markers? Shall we expect the teachers to get rid of their rulers, yard sticks, dry-erase markers, pencils (you know they do have lead in them!)

Shall we do away with desks (falling hazard) and have all the kids sit on pillows on the floor --perhaps they can look toward Mecca too...

This is so ridiculous.

Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas, Chuck!
