Quote Of The Week

… “The word ‘minority’ from our standpoint should mean African-American. I don’t think women, Asians and Hispanics should be able to use that title,” he said. “That’s why our numbers cannot improve — because we use women, Asians and Hispanics who are not people of color, who are not people who have been discriminated against.”

James Meeks, Mayoral Candidate, Chicago

Chicago Sun Times

With a hat tip to I Hate The Media

What is even more funny is that he wasn't done. He came back to explain himself.

“I don’t believe white women should be considered in that count ….You have white women in the category. They receive contracts. Then, white men receive contracts. Where does that leave everybody else?”

"Where does that leave eveeryone else"
My God, we could have a fair and open system in which everybody had an even chance to get a contract based on their ability to do the work. What kind of madness would that lead to?

But he still wasn't done.

On Thursday, Meeks issued a written statement further clarifying his remarks. It emphasized that “all minority- and women-owned businesses” deserve their “fair share” of city contracts.

Hmm, there's that "fair" word again. So, in other words, the only way the system could be "fair" is if everyone except white males were given an equal chance at a contract. I think I'm starting to understand what he is saying. I might be slow but I get there eventually.

Not to open a can of worms but I do have one question for Mr. Meeks.

What about gay white men? Think about it. How could we possibly discriminate against these poor wretches? I mean, society has been just horrible to them.

People refuse to rent them housing. No, wait, that's not really true.

They refuse to hire them or pay them less. No, that's not true either.

Oh, Oh, I've got it. They don't get to go to the same schools as other children. No, that's not true either.

Someone help me here, why do we provide protections to gays.

The point is it doesn't matter, they are discriminated against. So, do they get protection? Or do only minority homosexual men get protection? Or minority lesbian women maybe? Do white lsebians get preferential treatment? And finally, what about transgenders? Does it matter if they started as a man or a woman?

Sorry, I'm back to thinking none of this makes any sense.

I've asked this before and I ask it again. Is there anyone as racist as someone from the left?

The word "fair" has been co-opted by the left.

Yea, AOW, like justice and truth and change and...... name and if it once stood for something good the left has co-opted , no corrupted it would be a better word IMHO.

Unreal.

What does one say about such INSANITY?!?

AOW and Ticker, agreed. Not only have they co-opted them, they have redefined the words.

Brooke, we may only be at the beginning

It is telling (to me) that Meeks is not even slightly embarrassed to admit he is one of those who strive to perpetuate the myth of white oppression. If there is oppression these days, it involves far too many individuals willing to bare their throats to progressive politicians (who have done more to enslave African-Americans than anyone else has). I seem to recall an admonition to judge men by the content of their character, rather than whether they belong to some statistical minority. I guess Mr. Meeks hasn’t has his fill at the trough of Democratic subjugation.

That's leftism for you, thanks to their convoluted stupidity, they can be issuing 'clarifications' every hour.
