Once Again Not Getting The Full Story From The Media

If there is an incident of a Muslim being attacked by a non-Muslim (v the millions attacked every year worldwide by a Muslim) it is a big story.

The media jumps all over the story, we have an epidemic of anti-Muslim hate crimes in the US.

We will get a spokesman from CAIR dusting off a microphone somewhere demanding action on this. Why, they are not even safe on the streets anymore.

Read this article about a a 14% surge in hate crimes in the state of New York.

Here are a couple of interesting excerpts from the article.

Anti-Semitic incidents, which made up 37 percent of the reported hate crimes, were up 15 percent in one year, from 219 in 2008 to 251 in 2009.

Crimes motivated by anti-Muslim sentiment rose from eight to 11.

What? Seems like we have been had. There doesn't seem to be the rash of hate crimes against Muslims like we thought.

Let's put this in a little perspective, because the Jewish population of New York is bigger than the Muslim population. There are approximately 2.5 times as many Jewish people in New York as there are Muslims. The hate crime rate is almost 23 times as high among the Jewish population.

Seems like we have an epidemic of hate crimes against the Jewish population. One can only assume the media will be all over this at any time now.

As to the 11 Muslims that were targeted. Don't get me wrong, I do not condone anyone being harassed for what they are if they are minding their own business. This is not about hate crimes or who they are perpetrated against, it's about how the media overall reports on them.

Finally a little more perspective on this.

There are fewer Muslims targeted for harassment based on their religion by non-Muslims in a year in the entire state of New York (population 19.5 million with approximately 682,500 of them Muslims) than are targeted in the typical open market bombing in the Middle East at one time, by Muslims.

What do you think about this? Does a person have a right to absolute privacy in their own home? Should you be allowed to keep secrets from your spouse in a home you both own? Does it matter who owns the computer? Or the home? How would you decide ownership of a computer in this case?

Clara was married twice previously, the Oakland Press reported, explaining that Walker discovered that she was having an affair with her second husband, who had once been arrested for beating her in front of her young son from her first husband.

Just so you have a little context, she was talking about the federal budget.

This is one of the best examples yet of the contempt that many on the left have for Christianity. She treats the notion of a Christmas party as akin to vulgarity. One could almost imagine she would have the same reaction if she had just farted or dropped the f-bomb.

Any bets that she would not say the same thing if she were talking about attending a Feast of Ramadan?

I think the only obvious question left is whether NPR will fire her and release the following statement:

"His, Her remarks on The O'Reilly Factor this past Monday were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his her credibility as a news analyst with NPR,"

I was scanning the news sites today when these two articles caught my eye.

Muslim Woman Reports Attack Near Ohio Mosque

Harry Potter star 'beaten after meeting non-Muslim man'

In the first story a 20 year old woman was harassed and attacked with pepper spray by what seems to be an American jackass. This has no place here and quite frankly reduces the men that do it to nothing more than common hoodlums in Muslim countries harassing Americans and/or Christians.

The second story is about a 22 year old actress who was beaten by her brother and father at which time they threatened to kill her. All because she had developed a relationship with a young man who was a Hindu.

Read the articles for yourself but one difference stood out for me.

In the case from Ohio in which the lady was attacked by what appears to be a non-Muslim this morning, CAIR is already involved and is reportedly holding a press conference today. They undoubtedly will condemn it, as they should, and it will be labeled a hate crime. The case is already being picked up by leftists sites and they are having a field day with this hate crime.

In the case from the UK in which the woman was attacked by her brother and father in May, there doesn't appear to be any be-kind-to-Muslim groups stepping up to condemn this brutal attack on a fellow Muslim. I looked at 9 different articles on this and none of them mentioned condemnation from any groups.

Fascinating?

I'm not much in the mood for politics today. This stuck in my craw though.

The 24-year-old declares that if any of the clothes horses fancy a guy, they’ll be the ones doing the wooing.

I realize these women are beautiful and a lot of their attitude is from the fact that the public idolizes them. I further realize that a balding old guy like me has no chance which is probably why I don't think it would be a big deal to date them.

With this said, are they really all of that?

First, what is an "ordinary guy" and why do they get to decide the criteria?

Mostly though there is this "wait until you are spoken too before you speak" - WTF? I mean really, who do they think they are?

This is really sad and pathetic as far as I'm concerned. They really think that they are that important in society that they cannot be bothered by common folk and, I do believe that they believe this.

What are your thoughts on this? Why is society so celebrity crazed? Is it healthy? Or am I just bitter because I am too ordinary?

What is even more funny is that he wasn't done. He came back to explain himself.

“I don’t believe white women should be considered in that count ….You have white women in the category. They receive contracts. Then, white men receive contracts. Where does that leave everybody else?”

"Where does that leave eveeryone else" My God, we could have a fair and open system in which everybody had an even chance to get a contract based on their ability to do the work. What kind of madness would that lead to?

But he still wasn't done.

On Thursday, Meeks issued a written statement further clarifying his remarks. It emphasized that “all minority- and women-owned businesses” deserve their “fair share” of city contracts.

Hmm, there's that "fair" word again. So, in other words, the only way the system could be "fair" is if everyone except white males were given an equal chance at a contract. I think I'm starting to understand what he is saying. I might be slow but I get there eventually.

Not to open a can of worms but I do have one question for Mr. Meeks.

What about gay white men? Think about it. How could we possibly discriminate against these poor wretches? I mean, society has been just horrible to them.

People refuse to rent them housing. No, wait, that's not really true.

They refuse to hire them or pay them less. No, that's not true either.

Oh, Oh, I've got it. They don't get to go to the same schools as other children. No, that's not true either.

Someone help me here, why do we provide protections to gays.

The point is it doesn't matter, they are discriminated against. So, do they get protection? Or do only minority homosexual men get protection? Or minority lesbian women maybe? Do white lsebians get preferential treatment? And finally, what about transgenders? Does it matter if they started as a man or a woman?

Sorry, I'm back to thinking none of this makes any sense.

I've asked this before and I ask it again. Is there anyone as racist as someone from the left?

For anyone who did not read my post yesterday, it was about an Austrian man who was fined by a judge for yodeling. The reasoning, according to the judge, is that the yodeling was like the Muslim call to prayer and so he could offend his Muslim neighbors.

Feds Force Okla. Bank To Remove Crosses, Bible Verse

PERKINS, Okla. -- A small-town bank in Oklahoma said the Federal Reserve won’t let it keep religious signs and symbols on display.

Specifically, the feds believed, the symbols violated the discouragement clause of Regulation B of the bank regulations. According to the clause, "...the use of words, symbols, models and other forms of communication ... express, imply or suggest a discriminatory preference or policy of exclusion."

The feds interpret that to mean, for example, a Jew or Muslim or atheist may be offended and believe they may be discriminated against at this bank. It is an appearance of discrimination.

We have now moved on from fighting actual discrimination in the United States, a practice we would all agree is abhorrent, to preventing the "appearance of discrimination".

I don't have an easy answer for this but we better wake up soon or at some point we're going to get out of bed one morning and not recognize our country anymore.

Got this in just under the deadline, I try to do this blog on Monday. I have been working a strange schedule lately.

So, Michael Steele is seeking a second term. What are your thoughts?

The GOP did have a big election this year under his tenure.

Some say though that it was not because of him but in spite of him.

Fund raising was lackluster.

There is also the lingering thought that even thought the GOP did well in the House, it could have done better and taken the Senate.

The GOP did well in the state legislators and Governorships but lost some Gubernatorial races it could have won.

Bottom line, it was a good election but not a great one.

More significant than the past though is the future.

We have a Presidential election coming up and a Senate that is wide open for the GOP to retake, maybe by a decent margin.

Is Michael Steele the man to do it for us? What are your thoughts?

Unidentified Democratic lawmaker.

Three things with this.

One, it's funny. Who among us hasn't said "f -- the president"? Here we have someone who went and did it publicly.

Two, where's the outrage? Remember this old classic - "You lie"? The Democrats made Rep. Joe Wilson stand in front of the House and be admonished for saying this. Forget that Obama was actually in fact lying when Wilson said this, we have to maintain respect for the office.

Maureen Dowd actually made an attempt to turn it into a racist statement. The left had their panties in a bunch. Evidently saying "f -- the president" isn't as bad as pointing out that he is being less than truthful.

Third, this does not bode well for Obama and the Democrats in 2012.

While it was funny and all, these two words hold a lot of danger for the Democratic party.

The remark was in response to Obama's compromise with the GOP on the tax bill pending before Congress. I have a lot of issues with the bill and quite frankly think it should be voted down. With that said, the Republicans and Democrats will have to work together over the next two years if they are going to get anything done.

The Democrats do not want to work with the Republicans. Their definition of compromise has been for Republicans to shut up and do what the Democrats want. With Republicans retaking Congress, it is a whole new ballgame and the Democrats are not going to get everything they want. In fact, considering everything they want is very far left, it will be more likely they will get nothing they want.

Herein lies the trap for them. It is becoming clear early on that they are not going to handle this new Congress very well. A lot of Democrats lost in this last election. The problem for them though is that most of the ones that were lost were the moderates, leaving mostly far-left ideologues behind.

In addition to them mostly being far-left ideologues, most of them are also delusional. They are still convinced, even after the voters said "f--- you" to them, that the public wants them to continue.

I believe they will dig in, have several temper tantrums like this over the next two years, fight with Obama when he compromises, and generally act like idiots. All of this will make them look exactly like the idiotic pathetic little people they are and cost them and Obama re-election in 2012.

So, in conclusion, while "f -- the president" may just sound fun now, it also could be exactly what they will be doing over the next two years.

Basically, D-lister comedian Kathy Griffin appeared at a USO show on VH1 for some troops and made cracks about Bristol Palin being fat.

"No, come on, come on. She gained like 30 pounds a week, I swear to God, it was fantastic,” Griffin said. “She's like the white Precious."

When does this get old?

We can discuss Sarah Palin's qualifications to be President all day but why is this constant stream of hatred from the left about her, her children, her son with Down's Syndrome tolerated by the media and the so-called "women's rights" groups?

I can only assume everyone remembers the rending of clothing on the left when Carly Fiorina made a crack about Barbara Boxer's hair?

Then of course we had Jerry Brown calling Meg Whitman a whore. NOW was so outraged at this debasement of women that they endorsed him for Governor but refused to endorse him for the California Sensitive Male of the Year award. That will show him.

I could care less what the media reports, they have no credibility left and the public realizes this. It would be nice though to see some accountability for people spewing hatred like this.

For instance, let's take the USO. Personally, I blame them for this whole episode. They knew what they were getting and brought her in anyways. The question is though, where do they go from here? Will they condemn her remarks? Will they continue using her?

One positive came from this whole thing:

Even after the troops' loud booing, Griffin continued the attack.

Seems like a bunch of what the left would view as dumb grunts has more brains than a broken down 'never-was'.

This was a remark about negotiating the renewal of the Bush era tax cuts. The GOP is trying to keep Obama and the rest of the idiotic Democrats from pushing through an economy-killing tax increase on the wealthy. GOP, in doing this, are terrorists.

If there is a more defining way of how the left looks at taxes and having a fair rate for all taxpayers, I don't know what it is.

They really need to check the water in New Jersey though, something appears to be in it this week that is causing people to loose their minds.

Mr Rolle plays for the New York Giants and seemed to take umbrage at being booed by fans who, as he points out, paid about a gazillion dollars (the current price for an NFL ticket) to do so. He seemed to think booing an NFL player (who makes more than the gazillion dollar cost of a ticket to play a game) was tantamount to booing troops returning from a war zone.

Oh, and he apologized - as soon as team officials made him do so.

We have a little middle-aged Hispanic lady who cleans up blood and vomit in our trauma rooms after big cases and does it for not a whole lot above minimum wage. She doesn't complain, just comes when we need her and does a helluva a job.

Quite frankly, I have more respect for her than I do for this meatsack.

I support this ruling in principle. I don't think online companies should be allowed to track your activity or place anything on your computer without your consent.

The question is though, would it work?

A large share of the companies that do this are overseas and the ones here would move if the rules are passed. Can we regulate them?

We could regulate the servers and providers but how well? What about overseas providers?

Ultimately the question is, what do we do with the internet. While I am not a fan of regulation, we have to have some controls. Child pornography. Illegal scams. Viruses, malware, Trojan horses, etc.

In a way, the internet is really like the old American wild west right now. There is great potential. Wide open spaces. There is also the unknown and some hidden dangers.

How do we settle it while still leaving the pioneering spirit intact?
