Simply Get Out?

We have all been following the situation in Egypt. President Mubarak is out and the Muslim Brotherhood may be taking control.

Then we have Iran. Opposition protests are surfacing again and the government is threatening to execute opposition leaders.

Iraq and Afghanistan are both still a shit-hole.

Libyan leader Gaddafi is starting to make noise again and it seems as if other nutbags in the Muslim world may be listening to him a little bit.

Indonesia is trying to stake a claim as the arm pit of the world.

Now, in today's headlines, we have these two articles:

Critics Slam U.S. Government, Media for 'Weak' Response to Anti-Christian Attacks

Read the article although the headline speaks volumes. Christians are constant targets of the peace loving and tolerant Muslims.

CBS News' Lara Logan Assaulted During Egypt Protests

According to this article a reporter for CBS was kidnapped, beaten and, and raped by a group of thugs in the street.

The point here?

A large majority of the people in the Muslim world are savages. Most of the international violence and almost all of the terrorism in the last 30 - 40 years has originated there.

It's a foreign culture with foreign values.

They hate us and don't want us in their countries.

So why are we there?

One of the obvious reasons is oil. We need it, they have it. This has many simple solutions.

Drill here in the US. We have a lot of oil, use it.

Buy it from Venezuela. Yes, we have that small issue of the country being run by a lunatic but a few million dollars worth of weaponry in the right hands would fix that problem.

Work on alternative fuels. There isn't an obvious choice for replacing fossil fuels right now but this doesn't mean we can't develop something.

Take away the oil money from the Middle East countries and they have nothing. Take away the oil money and terrorism goes away.

We are not the only consumers of their oil but they would be hard pressed to survive without us. Further, don't do business with countries that do business with them.

Finally, there is the issue of Israel. We are a stabilizing influence for them. Without us in the region they would be a target. This is another surmountable problem. Cut off foreign aid to the Muslim countries and give some of it to Israel for defense. Provide military aid. Put a base there if they are willing. We could protect them. This would become easier over time too because as funds dried up in the Muslim world, the threat to Israel would diminish.

Maybe it sounds simple but I say we just get out. Leave them to continue their millennia-long struggle of killing each other over a few acres of sand. The rest of the civilized world can go about it's business safe and sound.

I think you're right Chuck. Most of our problems have simple solutions that are ignored. America became a great nation by using our own resources and protecting our own. Now we meddle in everyone else's business and stir up hatred against us.

Phil, I agree

I concur with what Phil said and would add that the government blocks development and use of our own resources. When Carter was president and we had our first oil embargo I think the US was importing about 20% of its oil. Since then there has been a lot of blather about our oil dependency, and the need to do something about it. So what have we done? We now import 40% or more of our oil. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if a Muslim regime or a terrorist group manages to shut off a spigot, even briefly, our already weak economy will collapse and the Great Depression will look like a Sunday school picnic in comparison. And in Washington D.C. its pretty much business as usual. Certainly, there is no sense of urgency in the Obama administration except for breastfeeding and school lunch programs.

We all want Obama out of the White House, and there is no Republican nominee who can beat Obama. Except Paul. The only way to beat Obama is to steal his votes, and the only who who will do that is Paul. Obama only won the election because he got the Independent vote- it was anyone other than McCain/Palin. Independents and Democrats alike love Paul.
This is a serious situation. We can't just wait until 2016 when any old Republican is a shoe in. I fear the economy- and the dollar- will not last that long. It's time we stop worrying about the reputation of the Republican party (who will be their puppet) and start worrying about the future of this country.
Please, don't give up on Ron Paul. Reconsider what you think you know about him- the media has not done a fair job. He was completely ignored in the 08 election.

"Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country."
-Ronald Reagan

Clearly we need to drill for our own oil and we need to build coal and nuclear plants. I'm not against certain green policies that reduce waste, but the ones that prevent us from using our own resources, should go the way of global warming.

The middle east mindset is as immutable as stone. The only thing they respect is power. It's time we went about strengthening our country rather than weakening it at every turn.

Ann Coulter said the other day that there are only two possibilities when dealing with foreign nations: the first is that the leader is insane and the people are clamoring for freedom (such as in Iran), or the people are insane, and the leader, dictator though he may be, serves the interests of the United States. Egypt serves as a good second example. I think the good news is that the Egyptian people built those pyramids, but that was 3,000 years ago; since then their only contribution is the mutilation of clitorises. So why are leftists insisting that we continue to kiss Middle Eastern asses?

No one can argue successfully against Phil’s supposition, but that doesn’t stop leftists from trying. By all means, let us continue to climb into bed with the people who wish us dead, and let us continue to pretend that drilling oil and gas here in America will cause the earth to spin off into the next galaxy. What is it with socialists, anyway? Oh, right … I nearly forgot. They want American to fail so they can sit around drinking mint juleps and say, “See, I told you so.”

As liberals become giddy over the idea of democracy in Egypt (which suggests the democratic selection of a terrorist regime), why weren’t they at least as enthusiastic about democracy for Iraq? Ann put it this way: Mubarak supported US foreign policy, he used his army to suppress terrorists, and he recognized Israel’s right to exist. The way leftists view this is, three strikes and you’re out.

For far too long we've been (1) bargaining with these devils in the Arab world and (2) whitewashing Islam so as not to alienate these Islamic countries because they have oil.

I support Israel, a nation surrounded by barbarians and a nation encouraged not to defend herself.

Alligator, I agree. I think I have heard we are over 50%. Not sure where I heard it...

Cube, I agree

Mustang, this has a very simple answer

As liberals become giddy over the idea of democracy in Egypt (which suggests the democratic selection of a terrorist regime), why weren’t they at least as enthusiastic about democracy for Iraq?

Bush wanted democracy in Iraq, Obama wants it Egypt. I know this seems silly but I genuinely believe that it is true

AOW, the funny thing is though that a lot of the people whitewashing Muslims don't want the oil.

It's worse than we thought Chuck - it's 63% that is imported. Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia are the top three sources. Nigeria is fourth.

Mexico is on the verge of collapsing into a narco state. I think the American media and Homeland Security have been turning a blind eye to what is going on down there. My contacts there describe the corruption and violence as unbelievable. If Mexico falls, we're screwed. Arabia could face a radical Muslim revolution like Iran or Egypt. If they do our oil supply is screwed. If that doens't happen by the Royal House get PO'd at us or feel they can make up our loss of business by dealing with China, Russia or India, we are screwed.
Nigeria is a basket case, corruption and Islamic jihad are recreational opportunities there. It wouldn't take much for that spigot to get turned off, in which case we are screwed.

Danger is staring us in the face. No, its slapping us in the face, hard. But most in Washington are only concerned with "going green". In the meantime the Obamas are pushing high speed trains and breastfeeding. Unbelievable times we live in. I really think common sense and sane judgment has passed from the national scene.
