Lot's of baby poop I am sure. Just check the parking lot of any nearby Wal-Mart and see the nasty diapers laying around. You know the kid filled the diaper in the store , in the cart. and then got changed before it was put in the car seat. Can't have poop in the car seat not the smell . LOL
Oh, and I wear rubber gloves, the disposable kind when shopping. Snot, crap, who knows what else is on shopping cart handles then you got to contend with the produce unless you have a store that makes sure what is stocked is clean first. Few do such and Wal-Mart ain't one of them. I use to buy my produce at Sprouts but they are not located in GA. Clean and best produce I every bought and I was a Produce Manager once upon a time after retirement from Uncle.
Ticker, actually the stores that do wipe do so with probably an alcohol or ammonia based cleaner which is okay for all except the nastiest bug. C. diff is a gastric bug that is quite contagious and causes horrid diarrhea. It is also not killed by either alcohol or ammonia but instead needs bleach. So wear 'em if you've got 'em.
AOW, do wear gloves and wash your produce in a bleach water. It only takes a small amount in a sink full of water and then rinse under running cold water, that will crisp your produce as well. I use the large zip lock bags to store lettuce, maters, celery, carrots and such in. Root veggies such as taters are usually not contaminated as are surface grown veggies. Apples and oranges need to be washed to remove the residue of spray from them as well as the chemicals used to keep them fresh. I buy local grown apples and such to avoid such contamination by spray.
Stores here have wipes, too, I always take one and wipe off the handle....gad, isn't this disgusting!? Ticker, you wear rubber gloves? they probably think you're a proctologist :-)!! HEH
Z. I don't go asking folks to bend over(LOL) so that eliminates part of the question. I do get some strange looks but when you have almost no immune system you do what is necessary to keep from becoming ill.

News I probably need to know, but wish that I didn't.

Stores here have bleach wipes near the carts. I use them.
UGH!!! I'm cringing thinking about going to the store, now!
How many people are picking their butts before going grocery shopping?!?
I always use those sani-wipes.

I'd say a bigger problem is that fecal matter is found in 72% of the legislation and edicts that come from Washington.

Gator, that is 100% without a doubt. 72 is giving them too much credit.
