Michigan man still on food stamps despite winning $2M

I really have nothing to add, just read the article.

Yet another example of a broken welfare system - created with the best leftist intentions and destroyed by the worst leftist outcomes.

Which of these is the biggest sinner: the prostitute, or the man who hires her?

Which of these is more idiotic: the individual who is willing to accept a "free entitlement," or the government that offers one?

And by the way, how does the government get away with taking half of someone's winnings? I'm asking because it seems an exorbitant tax to me, and I wonder why "we the people" are silent about such government behavior. I wonder if the people’s silence encourages even more government “entitlement” to our money.

Mustang, good question on the government.

As far as them taking that much in taxes, I'm skeptical. This number is from him. I live in Michigan and my impression is that they don't take that much.

Chuck! It can't be that we post the same thing so often...that's amazing.

Imagine this guy saying "If you're trying to make me feel bad, don't bother?" (i paraphrase, but..)
What kind of PEOPLE are these? man....
and Mustang's right. I don't think this money should be taxed and I don't think Social Sec.
payments should be taxed, either; that's oxymoronic.
Or just plain MORONIC !

My WORD VERIFICATION is 'icared'...sweet!

Very good question, the fellow is merely enjoying the benefit of a stupid government voted in by people who still think government can do things better no matter how much evidence exists to the contrary.

Z, I see such a sense of entitlement in people at work. It drives me nuts

MK, good point. It's almost hard to blame him (I still do)

This and the 'adult baby'...

I can't take it. When I was a kid my mother had a stroke, my father couldn't handle it and took off to Florida. ( He has turned himself around, thankfully.) He left and my uncle took us in, and when she applied for assistance they treated her like a human turd. I REMEMBER her rehab; as a small child I used to help her with HER vocabulary, ect. I REMBER standing in that line at the 'welfare office' and the attitudes of the workers and the those on the dole. It was as if they sensed she was the one embarrassed person in the room and fed off of that.

She is, PTL, recovered and high-functioning; she was able to raise us and you'd never know she's suffered a stroke by looking at her today, although math is still difficult for her.

This stuff pisses me off into white-hot hatred mode.

At his age Vick should've chosen the lump sum option, kicked the "free entitlement", and lived it up for the remainder of his life.

Now that it has gone public, he has to deal with the government wanting their money back, paying for lawyers, and having to face the opprobrium of his neighbors and the nation.

Brooke, your mother is what assistance is for. I have never been against helping people that need help, it's the career welfare queens (and kings) that drive me freakin nuts

Cube, you would hope his neighbors shun him. Depends on where he lives. Some neighbor hoods he would be a hero
