You Don't Have To Be An Idiot To Work Here, But It Helps

MSNBC's Martin Bashir: Palin Bus Tour In "Breach Of Federal Law"

Read the article and see the video here

The left has always worked pretty hard to smear Sarah Palin. There has also been a cottage industry that has sprung up to attempt to have her investigated for various legal issues. All in the name of destroying someone who scares them.

Martin Bashir has staked a claim to be among the best though.

He is making the assertion that she is in violation for using the American flag for advertising purposes and is thus breaking the law.

The quotes from him on the above link are essentially incomprehensible. He alternately accuses her of self-promotion, promoting her book, and running for President. He then followed it up with the declaration that none of this is for a presidential run.

This is why I am a little confused as to what he is accusing her of.

I did do a little research and this is what Wiki said about the flag code

The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the flag of the United States. It is Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and it is not widely enforced — indeed, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Oh well, I guess someone had to take Ed Schultz's place this week.

gad, the flag's painted on her truck because she's visiting great American sites and has the bus rigged out in Americana! Can't I do that without someone saying I'm breaking the law, or it is because she's making money..? which, on THIS trip at least, she's not, from what I can see. I mean, heck, they had to go out to a brightly lit pizza parlor with The Donald, right? Not exactly swanky! $$ Maybe they couldn't afford more?!! HA!
If she gets out and goes into a hall and speaks, that doesn't seem wrong, either.
I'm sorry, for ONCE, that she's not milking the trip to help our children across the country see these sites; That would have been a better TV series than catching fish in Alaska, if she's really all about this country, and I think she is...just a thought.

So if I have an American flag bumper sticker on my car to show support and patriotism, and use said vehicle to drive to work in order to make money Bashir says I am in violation of flag code?

In any case, the flag code has no provision for enforcement, fines or penalties for private citizens, so WTF is Bashir's point?

And Ducky likes to talk about the right being petty. Sheesh.

These buffoons who so desperately need to smear Palin over her use of the flag are the same cretins who would go to any lengths to allow the flag to be burned by a hateful protester.

Here’s what I wish. I wish we could set Martin Bashir on fire and claim freedom of expression, as protected by the First Amendment.

I am sure that Mr. Bashir would not have a problem with anyone burning an American flag as an expression of free speech. If this were a Democrat or someone other than Sarah Palin, it would not have been a blip on his radar screen. All except the leftist kool-aid drinkers have figured this out.
