Absence For Awhile

I am sorry that I have not been around for the last few days and have not been responding to your comments on my site. My grandmother is quite ill and it is unlikely she will be with us for more than a couple of more days.

I just returned from the Flint area and will probably work tomorrow and go back after work to be with her and my family.

I will likely be away form the blog world for most of the next week.

Keep us in your thoughts and I will return when I can.

My condolences to you and your family. Will pray for all of you. I know you see grief up close everyday, but it is quite the different story when it is your family, whom you love.

May the peace that passes all understanding be upon you all.

Thank you all. My grandmother did pass away last night. It was very peaceful and quick. I think she appeared comfortable and at peace. She has been sick awhile and was getting tired. She had told my father she was ready.

Mia, thank you.

Z, I appreciate your thoughts.

LA, I thought of all of that when we were at the hospital and on the way up there.

Knowledge can be a mixed blessing at times.

Without all of the details, she had been on a ventilator for the last few days and we withdrew last night.

The good was that I, along with my brother who is a general surgeon, have been a huge help to my family in the last few days because we helped them understand and make decisions that had to be made.

The bad is that on the way there I knew how ugly things could get for her when we took her off of the ventilator.

In the end, she went peacefully and I found myself explaining and re-assuring my family that she was comfortable and, I hope, this made things a bit easier for them.

Chuck, thanks for letting us know; I came by to see if there was news.
Your family was very lucky to have you and your brother explain and advise with knowledge and with love.
May He bring comfort in the fact that she did die peacefully.
love to you. Z

You and your grandma are in my prayers and thoughts Chuck.

Z, thank you. She really did go peacefully

Cube, thanks

MK, thanks. BTW, watching the events in Sydney on the news. They currently think a girl had a bomb attached to her somehow. Sounds like that young lady is okay.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your grandmother.

She had told my father she was ready.

I've seen that before in my own family. Without exception, the deaths of those family members were peaceful.

Loren and AOW, thank you.

I am still in Flint and have been pretty busy everyday. I should be back fixing the countries problems in a few days.

Chuck, in our worship service, there is a brief period during which congregants are asked to speak names aloud in prayer. Voices can be heard in a gentle cacophony. It is a beautiful moment.

This coming Sunday, you, your grandmother, and all those for whom you care will be part of that moment. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Our prayers are with you.

God's blessings to you, Chuck.
Burr, that's a really nice thing to do.
