Quote Of The Week

“The president’s worried about his next election, but my God, shouldn't we be worried about the country?”...“I'm not worried about the next election. I told the president months ago: Forget about the next election!”

John Boehner, Speaker of the House

This is about the budget deal Congress and the White House is working on. Obama is insisting on having a deal that carries them through next year, past the election. He doesn't want to have to face this again next year before the election.

Only one question, if he is doing the right thing for the country shouldn't he want to showcase it during the re-election campaign next year?

One would think that if Obama were doing the right thing by this country, the next election wouldn't even be a blip on the radar for him.

It is impossible for a hard core ideologue and a narcissist to be concerned with anyone or anything but themselves and their agenda.

When what he's trying to do isn't good for the country and he knows it, then he's in a real predicament.

How can going into still more debt, from which we will probably never recover, be good for any country? But, he's sure not going to want to really tighten belts to make any real attempts at reducing spending; who'd vote for him then?

Brooke, that's the way I see it

Alligator, good point

Z, if he really did cut spending his base would abandon him in droves. The NYT wrote a piece the other day saying he's losing libs. If he cuts spending this will only accelerate.

The president isn't worried about the nation. He never has been.
