What Do You Think About This?

I was watching Fox today and the discussion was about Marco Rubio as VP choice.

The arguments were:

-He could deliver Florida. This could deliver the election with a lot of Midwest states, Western states, and other large states like Pennsylvania turning away from Obama and Perry, if he is the nominee, likely delivering Texas.

-He is Hispanic. I do not like to see affirmative action candidates. All we have to do now is look at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to see where that gets us. Bottom line though, he is Hispanic. This will not hurt, and again, could deliver the election by making a dent in a group of voters Obama was counting on. This would also shunt the criticism from the left that the GOP, due to immigration reform, is a bunch knuckle dragging, anti-Hispanic racists.

-He is likable. He plays well on stage. He's personable. Picture him on stage against Joe Biden in the VP debate.

-He's a Tea Party favorite. This is a big one. Not only would he draw in the Tea Party voters but he could also either prevent or limit the damage of a Ron Paul 3rd party candidacy.

So, what are your thoughts? Rubio a good choice? Do you have a better thought?

Excellent choice, i would say. the man is wise beyond his years. And with a little seasoning, he could be ready to assume the office if necessary.

What I have heard from is very good....and he would NOT be an affirmative action candidate. He beats Joe Biden's 100 years experience any day.

I actually agree but he will be looked as such by some

I like Rubio. He is one of a very few from any state who talks like they have some common sense rather than all that double-speak BS we always hear coming from DC.

Sorry Chuck I disagree a little bit. Nothing will shunt the Left. They will simply change the angle of attack and claim that Rubio is a sell out "to his people." We've seen it with black conservatives. In a way, the left defines race by political orientation.

Phil, agreed

Alligator, correct. That is why I said shunt instead of stop. Look at representative West, Condi Rice, etc. etc.

Well, I like Rubio a lot.

And, like it or not that his physical appearance could affect the vote, Rubio is so handsome.

The Hispanic element is a big plus as well.

I like Perry/Rubio for certain!

Ryan/Rubio has always been my dream team, but alas.

I adore Rubio and believe he'd attract Latinos, women, Catholics, indies, and some Dems.

I was very happy to vote for Rubio for the Florida Senate. He is young, but he has conservative bona fides and a good work ethic.

I'd gladly vote for him again as VP...if he decides to run. I think he wants more experience before he takes the plunge.

Chuck - check, got ya.

If Rubio has common sense, sticks to some basic conservative principles and honestly says what he thinks and what he means, that will more than compensate for any lack of "experience" he may have. Look at all the "experienced" politicians and "experts" in the bureaucracies and Washington think tanks. Where have they gotten us?

AOW, it's the age of TV for elections. Looks help

Brooke and Z, agreed

Cube, I agree on the experience but Obama may have changed that. It would be hard for the Dims to argue it (I realize they will try but it's a trap really)

Alligator, maybe we need a little less experience huh?

Chuck, lack of experience is a trap, but it only applies to the GOP. I don't mind Rubio's lack of experience because he'd be infinitely better than Obama. I think Rubio minds his lack of experience. Time will tell.

I've heard him speak and i definitely like him, that he is a hispanic is an added bonus.
