Democrats For Santorum

We had our primary here in Michigan yesterday.

The Democratic Party, Democratic operatives, and unions came out for Rick Santorum. They did this mostly to embarrass Romney.

The amusing part of this that they are favoring Santorum over Romney because of Romney's opposition to the auto bailout which they both opposed. But, this is not a column about the idiocy of the left.

What is less amusing is that Santorum put out a robo call to Democrats today asking for their support.

Is this okay? Is it sleazy? Is it a case of anything goes to win? What are your thoughts?

Finally, does this hurt him going forward? Does he lose his conservative cred because of courting Democrats?

WHat do you think about it?

To Hell With The Troops, Save The Unions

Read this:

The Obama administration is trying to cut benefits for retired military and families but is keeping the benefits intact for the unionized civilian workers. The thought is the military personnel can go on Obamakare while we shield the union employees from it.

Anyone shocked?

Quote Of The Week

Dollinger (PETA media liaison Jane Dollinger) did not dispute her organization’s sky-high euthanasia rate, but insisted PETA only kills dogs and cats because of “injury, illness, age, aggression, or because no good homes exist for them.”

Read the article

We are told that all animals deserve respect. It's wrong to kill an animal, no difference how ugly or unloveable. Violent animals deserve protection too, it's just their nature.

Evidently, the only ones allowed to kill animals is PETA.

Read the article, it's a real eye opener on the absolute hypocrisy of the left.

More To The HHS Mandate?

First hat tip to DaBlade. It was his blog I was reading when this thought occurred to me.

We all know that the Obama administration has passed a dictate forcing all companies to pay for birth control for it's employees.

This, of course, has caused backlash from religious employers, especially Catholic organizations.

The Obama administration, much to the approval of the far-let, has stood firm and is refusing to rescind the rule or even allow an exemption.

So, the question is, do you think the left ha a vested interest in promoting birth control among Christians?

Before you think this is paranoid, realize there are many on the left who are patient. Take gay marriage as an example. It has been a goal of the left for decades to give homosexuals the right to marry. They have slowly chipped away at the public's opinion of homosexuality to where we are now at a point in which gay marriage is not as unpalatable to the public as it was 20 or 30 years ago.

Same with environmentalism. These nuts have been around since the 60's. Now, decades later, they are mainstream.

So, again, is the left quietly promoting birth control on the right? They would certainly welcome fewer little Christians running around, growing up to be adult conservatives.

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grade Teacher?

“Educators know best how to serve children, not necessarily regular residents,”

Debbie Squires, director, Michigan Elementary and Middle Schools Principals Association

This was in a legislative hearing in Michigan on charter schools. Read the article, it's quite entertaining.

Her contention is that parents get a say when they elect school board members. Evidently after that it is out of our hands. We need to let the professionals do their job.

This is getting scary folks. Take this along with my post from yesterday in which a state worker took lunch away from a pre-schooler because it was not healthy enough.

The part that is scary is that these people really believe this crap. They think the government does know better how to raise our children, how we should live our lives.

I have always believed that policies and ideas like this are insidious. They are akin to a cancer on our society. We quietly cede more and more to the government until our freedoms are chipped away.

Take today's and yesterday's posts as an example.

It used to be that any decisions about our children were left to parents, quaint I know but true.

Then we started to have teachers at a local level exercise a little control.

Next we formed the department of education. Along the way the federal government became more and more involved in decisions at local schools, including setting guidelines for what constitutes a healthy lunch/breakfast for our children.

Eventually the federal government got in the business of subsidizing the meals. With money comes power. Once they began paying for the food, they were able to exercise more control over what was fed to the children.

We now find ourselves in a spot in which educators, such as the one above, believe they know what is best for our children.

Finally this leads to the state worker in yesterday's post being empowered to snatch the food away from our children if they deem it does not meet their standards. More than that the standards are arbitrary because the lunch the child had was actually quite healthy.

We have now lost control over our children's lunches.

It's a brave new world.

The State Is Keeping Us Healthy

We have seen countless stories that serve as evidence that we are headed towards a police state. This article is showing us getting closer everyday.

Preschooler's homemade lunch replaced with nuggets

Read the article.

Basically, a state worker was in the school and noted that a child's lunch was not healthy enough. The comrade from the state was able to wrestle the unhealthy lunch away from the offending child and replace it with something more healthy.

My only hope is that we were able to track down this poor child's parents and get them off to a re-education camp so they can learn proper child rearing.

Thank Obama the state worker was there. Without this intervention this child could have grown up thinking it could make it's own decisions in life. Where would the country be then?

Nailed It

We have seen arguments for voter ID laws. Most recently it has been reported that there is a very significant number of people registered to vote in multiple states, after they are dead, etc.

In my mind voter ID laws are a no brainer. This is the best statement I have seen so far to counter the arguments against not doing it.

It’s perplexing how so many groups complaining about voter ID laws have the funds to register voters, educate voters and transport voters to the polls, but never budget anything to rectify ID problems or ask if people have all that’s required of them on Election Day.

Hmm, I'm starting to suspect something else is going on here.

Racism In A Right To Carry State

Man accused of racist rant, assault

Read the article

This is the best part though

The victim felt threatened at that point and pulled out his "legally carried pistol." The documents say he pointed it at Pierson, and told him to stay away while he left the store.

I have no tolerance for racism. By all accounts it sounds like this gentleman was minding his own business trying to do some shopping when this POS started harassing him.

I guess the moral here is that if you are going to be a racist bastard you should find a state in which your "victim" doesn't have the right to pack.

On a side note, I have to say that I am not a huge fan of racial intimidation laws. My thoughts are not about race but about being against political correctness. I think assault, for instance, is assault regardless of the reason and should be treated as such. Often racial intimidation charges seem as if they are thought crimes out of Orwell's 1984. With that said, I have a couple of thoughts on this case:

-I think it is appropriate here because racial intimidation was clearly the intent. I say charge this bastard with whatever you can to get him off the street longer. We won't miss him.

-Michigan has been fairly even-handed in using the law. We have had it on the books for quite a few years now and it does not appear as if it is over used. As the article states, it is rare.

Vending Abortion

Vending machine at Pennsylvania college dispenses 'morning after' pill

Read the article

Is this where our society is going? We have had abortion on demand, for use as a birth control, for decades. Now we are going to place the means for aborting in a vending machine?

Where do we, as a society, go from here?
